10 Things Your Butcher Won't Tell You.

#3: "Don't take a butcher's advice on how to cook meat," Andy Rooney once quipped. "If he knew, he'd be a chef." #5: "You are what the animal eats...For example, feathers, poultry manure and bedding are all acceptable in cattle feed, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Poultry may also be fed meat and bone meal ground down to an inexpensive, protein-rich powder that encourages fast growth."

Organic Doesn't Mean Free of Pesticides.

"In contrast, an undergraduate chemistry student, in a separate small-scale study, recently screened veggies for a number of banned pesticides and made an interesting discovery: The chemicals showed up on both conventionally grown and organic veggies—in roughly comparable amounts. In fact, organic carrots had higher amounts of some chemicals than the conventional vegetables did."

Trader Joe's Makes Change To 'Egg' Policy

"There's a major announcement from the Humane Society of the United States and Trader Joe's. It comes just four days after an I-Team investigation showed the grocer's brand name eggs come from hens kept in what's known as "battery cages...Gemperle Enterprises keeps more than 1.5 million hens in what are called battery cages -- it's a common farming technique in which a hen's confined to a space the size of a sheet of paper its entire life."

Consider the marshmallow.

"If you had a couple yesterday, all gooey and crusty on top of your sweet potatoes, you've probably consumed most of your marshmallow intake for the year. Because, really, there just isn't a lot you can do with a marshmallow. Beyond the sweet potato thing, you've basically got Rice Krispies treats, certain Jell-O salads, Peeps, hot chocolate and s'mores."
